Meet the Founders
Berkley Adekoya
Berkley brings multi-sector experience to Carcera, spanning the nonprofit, for-profit, and government sectors. Berkley obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Spelman College. Before beginning her matriculation at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Berkley served as a Change Management Consultant at Accenture and worked in social impact at United Way Worldwide. These collective experiences have strengthened her ability to collaborate across industries, build meaningful relationships with stakeholders, and deliver tangible benefits to her clients.
She was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Her great-grandfather began a rich and deep family legacy of healthcare providers, making Berkley a fourth-generation clinician. This legacy has given her an appreciation for servant leadership and a commitment to advancing and promoting health outcomes, health literacy, and health equity.
Berkley is married to David, and together they have three young children. She enjoys outside time with her family and loves experiencing the arts.

David Adekoya
David was born and raised in Clarksville, MD. Raised by healthcare professionals, he was exposed to some of the opportunities and challenges that exist in the modern healthcare system.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morehouse College and then attended Rutgers University, where he earned his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences. He completed his dental training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
David is passionate about increasing access to oral care and finding ways to ease the financial burden that debt places on people in our society. Upon graduation, David practiced in a variety of clinical settings, including a DSO, private practice, and correctional environment. He brings a wealth of experience in delivering high-quality clinical care and working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. David characterizes himself as a change agent, enjoying the evaluation of complex problems and devising strategic solutions.
David is a father to three children and is married to his college sweetheart, Berkley. He enjoys spending time with family, reading, traveling, playing basketball and golf, and listening to live music.
